(to use Vafra for Windows as UCI chess engine in Fritz interface, download "package for Fritz interface", extract suitable Vafra.zip, then select Vafra.1.1.0.exe file as a new UCI chess engine, 'Create UCI Engine' Fritz option; you could try to tailor Vafra's chess playing style to suite your analysis needs by tuning parameters in hyatt.cpf, crafty.cpf or saffery.cpf file, it is recommenced to preserve the original file, you could copy say saffery.cpf file into say my.cpf and replace 'personality load saffery.cpf' with 'personality load my.cpf' in crafty.rc file (all parameters in .cpf files are well documented and many of them should be self-explanatory to an average chess player), saffery.cpf makes Vafra searching slower but safer (good for analysis of games, critical positions, etc.), crafty.cpf makes Vafra searching a bit faster and is marginally less safe (good if quicker check of games is needed), hyatt.cpf contains the original Crafty settings (set by Professor Robert Hyatt), tuning parameters in .cpf file can make Vafra playing stronger, this may be difficult to achieve but if you manage to find a better set of parameters please send the .cpf file to Robert Jurjevic, thanks) |
